  • First published anonymously in the October and November 1865 editions of the Sydney Punch.

    Barton's entry in the Australian Dictionary of Biography (Vol 3) notes that he had been appointed commissioner of stamps in 1865 but lost the position when he admitted to having published this burlesque ridiculing the current ministry (p.114).
