  • Author's note: In the year 1880, a part of miners were brushing a roadway through old workings in the greenbank Pit, Dalry. A shot had been fired, and when the men returned to the scene of the blast they were surprised to see a toad on the top of the debris. Further discovery disclosed the fact that it had been released by the action of the explosion...
