Chums from Edinburgh University, Tom Murchison and John Malcolm (encouraged by their parents) decide to emigrate to Australia to take up a station together. Tom, the son of an Indian ex-army colonel, marries his childhood sweetheart, May and the three together with May's cousin and her solicitor husband travel to Australia. John's family are honest properous Scottish farmers but soical distinctions seems less important in this story ... (PB)
