Notes the erection of a monument to Travers in Ashfield, New South Wales in the form of a bronze statue of Mary Poppins. Poppins is depicted as she appeared in the original 1934 book by Travers. The statue, funded by the Ashfield Municipal Council and the Ashfield RSL, cost $9,000 and was made by Florentine Figures, Sydney. It stands outside 17 Pembroke Rd which was among Travers' childhood homes.
