Of her childhood in Kent, short time at a Maidstone boarding school, her mother's death and father's subsequent remarriage. After her stepmother has a son she marries and migrates to Australia but her husband dies on the voyage and her stepmother intercepts her letter to her father. Finally, after his death and a time of poverty, she marries a rich husband and prospers. (PB)
