AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Humourous romance set in Melbourne, revolving around a boarding-house in South Yarra and the Grand Hotel in the city. A young man engages rooms for himself and his bride-to-be in the house of a woman recently widowed and her pretty daughter. His bride, arriving from England, refuses to see him for days after her arrival pleading influenza. He is jealous of the ship's handsome doctor and the daughter of his landlady begins to raise her hopes as he looks more and more unhappy and his fiancee has left the Grand. All is revealed when his fiancee appears unexpectedly at the house - is recognised by the landlady and finally confesses to her suitor that she had lost her false teeth overboard and had to get a new set.
