Notes

  • Author note Best Australian Poetry 2003 : [The poem] was based on a dream I had, in which my girlfriend (posing as some sort of snow bandit) rescued me from a dangerous arctic movie situation. The dream evoked such a strong feeling in me that I wrote the poem down almost as it appears now. It's essentially about protection, the need to feel safe in someones's arms. I think my girlfiend really loves this poem (p. 116-116).
