Notes

  • Mackaness gives Robinson's birthdate as 1754 in the title but changes this to 1747 on p.6, and then comments on p.17 that The Australian Encyclopaedia (1926) made an error in the dates 1747-1826 as he 'must have been born in 1744'.
  • 1976 edition has title page verso note: This monograph was originally published privately by Dr. George Mackaness in a limited edition of 100 copies. This is Volume IV (4) in the new series of Australian Historical Monographs. It was Volume XIII (13) in the original series, although this was not noted on the Sydney, New South Wales : Ford, 1946 published edition.
  • The odes written for royal birthdays between 1810 and 1820 were originally published by The Sydney Gazette as broadsheets with no author given, and also in the newspaper in the next issue after the birthday, where they acknowledged Mr. Michael Robinson. The August 1821 king's ode appears to have been printed only in the newspaper.
