AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Manne examines the cultural climate of 1990s Australia in terms of it being a 'profound cultural backlash against the cultural revolution of the 1970s and the economic revolution of the 1980s'. He illustrates his argument with reference to the debate surrounding Helen Garner's The First Stone : Some Questions About Sex and Power and Helen Demidenko/Darville's The Hand that Signed the Paper. Manne also refers briefly to the work of Mark Davis and McKenzie Wark.
