Notes

  • Dedication: To my Mother
  • Epigraph:

    A Whisper

"Where are my Cheery Chanters?' I said,

"Gone!" said a whisper, " Gone to bed!

Some to a burrow and some to a nest,

Some to a cot or whatever is best:

    Some with a rustling, some with a patt'ring, Some with a flutt'ring, some with a chatt'ring;"

And then with a whisper, low, so low,

    "Good-night! Good-night! I too must go!"
