Set in the English village of Wetherby, the romance of cousins Marion Custor and George Kempson who are prevented from marrying by Marion's mother who despises the poor youth. The financial ruin of Marion's father and the social ruin of her mother by absconding with a foreign count clear the way for the marriage. (PB)
