AbstractHistoryArchive Description

One dull afternoon in an Australian country classroom the French teacher narrates the story of his life: riches and love in France; forced flight to England where his wife dies and his daughter marries a cruel and dishonest man; emigration to Australia where he watches her sufferings until finally she dies; and his eventual reunion with his grand-daughter.
