Miller argues that 'art offers us a liberation from the mundane, from the imprisoning treadmill of our culture's passion to know and to possess everything'. He contrasts the quest for knowledge and understanding in European culture with the 'knowledge of self and place' that is a birthright for indigenous peoples.
