AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Exemplary tale of working girls and society whims. A fashionable milliner's apprentice is dismissed for a mistake not her fault and dies ultimately of starvation when unable to find other work. The woman responsible for her dismissal visits her deathbed as a charitable sister and sees 'what she hath wrought'. Competent but thinly realised. (PB)
