      • The Adelaide University's copy contains a handwritten letter from the author to Dudley T. Angas, 12 February 1913, who wanted to buy a copy of the book: '...The MS was largely written in pencil; and as I was too ill to go to Town and bargain with Publishers, the book was brought out on commission so that the entire cost of production fell on me! The result, judging by the "opinions of readers"...are very gratifying; but the actual sales are very small, comparatively. Of my "No'ard of the Dogger" 37,000 copies were sold: of "The Squatter's Bairn", so far, about 1100! But the former book was published on a Royalty basis...'
