Discusses the genesis of The Quinkins, inspired to help preserve the Aboriginal mythology of the Cape York and Mornington Island regions. Trezise explores the supernatural figure of the Quinkin, which, along with other Aboriginal myths, he and Dick Roughsey hope to make part of "national folklore" in a number of high-quality picture books for children.
