'Novel set in subtropical northern New South Wales. When a school boy, Darcy falls in love with Clare. Darcy discovers his Aboriginality at high school and subsequently is rejected by her. Darcy is able to channel his anger into becoming successful in rugby league and becomes rich by underhand means. Darcy goes to university later in life and researches his childhood home, Cedar House, and its owner Peter Woodburn and uncovers his own identity.
