It's a blazing summer just before Christmas and London-based teenager, Alex feels like an unwanted parcel headed for the dead-letter office. She is on her way to spend three months with a father she hasn't seen for four years and a stepmother she's never met. There are lots of laughs and heartaches as ultra-urban Alex comes to terms with real farm life at Sturts Creek. Ultimately, this novel is a story of Alex's journey towards understanding her good-looking, laconic, easy-going, infuriating, procrastinating, stubborn father, but also coming partway towards understanding herself.
