The title of this selected work is taken from the corner of southern New York State, known as the Drowned Lands Originally inundated, this area was drained by early settlers and turned into rich black-dirt farms.

  • Epigraph: the falling waters led me, the foodful waters fed me, And brought me to the lowest land ... Emerson.
