Has some interesting points to make about the positive interest of American librarians in Australian children's books, in the role of the Children's Book Council of Australia and its' awards, and Australian critics. The article ends with Southall affirming that there is "nothing parochial or reprehensible about writing out of a regard for national identity"; that Australian children's literature has something to say to the world about humanity.
