  • Author's Note: 'After I had filched from Browning's 'Fra Lippo Lippo' a title for this meagre series, there seemed no harm in using as headings for the separate pieces the 'whifts of song' from the same source.

    None of these poems have been published before except the last one, which appeared in the Sydney Bulletin.'
