Twelve-year-old Christine's mother is dead, and Christine, born in England of two Australian parents, has been sent to Australia to live with her maternal aunt and cousin. Her father, a war reporter is now missing in Nazi-controlled France. A very worried Christine is stuck with her mean and horrible relatives and fearing for her father's fate.
