A contemporary newspaper review offers the following synopsis:

'Its story is about a young man who loves a governess in his step-sister's house but loses her through the machinations of the step-sister and only finds her and happiness again when, bored by his daily routine, he is prompted to bring into his home such passers by as the street in front of his home may offer.'
