AbstractHistoryArchive Description

A thriller set in an isolated boardinghouse in a remote area of Queensland: the boardinghouse is run by a woman who used to manage a circus 'freakshow', and who now employs her former 'freaks' as the boardinghouse staff. The main plot apparently concerned a jewel thief.

Production Details

  • Broadcast in thirteen episodes on ABC radio stations between 6 May and 29 July 1951.

Cast members included Yvonne Heaslip (Elizabeth Blackburn). The cast were new to the roles (unsurprisingly, considering the apparent nine-year gap between this and the preceding Blackburn serial), and their performance was not widely praised.
