AbstractHistoryArchive Description

A monologue, illustrated with black-and-white stills from contemporary photographs and films, which describes the fate of the Jewish population of Lodz, Poland after they were confined in the newly created ghetto of Litzmannstadt. The narrator tells the story through the eyes of Rumkowski, the Eldest of the ghetto.

Notes

  • The play has toured Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. In 1994 Alan Hopgood won the Best Actor at the Adelaide Fringe Festival for his role as Rumkowski.
