    Helen: Harriet's eldest daughter, a university student, about 19.

    Anna: Helen's friend, a university student, about 19.

    Lynn: Harriet's second daughter, a school girl, 16.

    Pam: Harriet's third daughter, a school girl, 14.

    Mr Bill Brown: late 40s.

    The University of Queensland's Fryer Library holds a substantial collection of Helen Haenke's literary works. The collection includes plays, short stories, novels, poems, and prose, all in manuscript form. Several of these works were published, but only the manuscript and electronic text versions are included in the collection.

      • The Helen Haenke Collection at the University of Queensland's Fryer Library holds one copy of 'First Performance'. The script has been typed with a typewriter onto white, but browning paper. The first page of the manuscript includes the character list and setting description. There is also a hand drawn, bird's eye view sketch of the stage. The author's name has been hand written in black ink underneath the title of the play. The title of the play has been typed onto a small piece of paper that is glued to the front page of the manuscript.
