AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Fictional Cities is a three year public art project by Lisa Anderson of which Writing the City : Part One is based on writers' stories about Sydney. These art works invite you to experience and imagine stories of the city through encounters with words on billboards, cranes, the internet and even written in the sky. This project was funded by the City of Sydney as part of the Street Alive program.

Anderson asked five Sydney writers to choose a word or phrase from her own writings on Sydney which resounded with their own experiences. Representative of a wide range of views, each writer wrote a quick, sharp response, which Anderson then captured in a series if paintings.
