Bon-bons and Roses for Dorothy profiles the elder stateswoman of Australian literature, Dorothy Hewett. Using excerpts from her work to great effect, the film reveals the complex and contradictory woman behind the controversial public figure. Director Jackie McKimmie, a long-time admirer of Hewett's writing, gathers frank observations from friends, rivals, colleagues, and the author herself and weaves them together with readings and extracts to detail an extraordinary career.
