'After the 1914-1918 war a returned soldier, Major Irving, launched the Bohemian. Besides the editor three able contributors were Sandes, Simmons and Maling, all well-known newspapermen. As the dailies to which they were attached objected to their doing 'outside' work they were forced to discontinue, and the Bohemian collapsed. They were recompensed, however, by the offer of a column in the Argus, which was headed 'Oriel' so titled (I understand) because the oriel window has three faces. This feature outlived the originators' (Serle, 'The Little Magazines.' Meanjin 8.4 (1949): 240).
