'An anonymously published travel book comprising a short, humorous piece and two long narrative pieces by Bonwick, 'Rambles of an Australian School Inspector' and 'The Longest Stage-ride in the World' (describing a trip, somewhat fictionalised, from California to Missouri in 1864-65).' (The Davidson Collection (2007) catalogue entry no. 431)

Notes

  • Ferguson and Pescott's original publication date of 1862 is decsribed in The Davidson Collection (2007) as 'a nonsense' given that the stage ride described occurred in 1864-1865. The Davidson Collection states further that subsequent printings are 'enumerated somewhat imperfectly' by Ferguson and the 'Pescott is very wide of the mark on this book'.
