'This book is the sequel to The Land Behind the World. In the first book, a girl called Bara develops her awareness to the point where she discovers the Land Behind the World. Entering it, she is greeted as a “Missing Person”, and joins Susie, Zaddik and the rest of those who are fighting the Flugs of Grey City. When the magical character the Fool, appears it is evident that great changes are coming. At the end of the first book, Bara and the others have escaped from Grey City, leaving it in a state of disruption as the Flugs run wild.'
