Once upon a time, Copeland Park was a well kept, peaceful, safe and happy place. Gradually it became neglected, filthy and dangerous. Then, one Easter, the Park inspires the drawing together of an unlikely collection of very different people all intent on its restoration, including: Mrs Carmichael, laundromat proprietor, who every night dreams of her dead husband; Jonas Cox, ex-bridge builder and ex-wino, who regards the rotundra as his bedroom; and Monique, madam, who makes far more money dirtying the sheets than Mrs Carmichael does washing them.
