A City Girl in Central Australia: Her Adventures and Experiences at "Back o' Beyond", Katharine Susannah Prichard , series - author prose
Series of six short, illustrated sketches published monthly from May - October 1906 in The New Idea : A Woman's Home Journal for Australasia . 'They take the form of letter from 'Kit', the city girl in the outback, to her mother, and were written from a journal Prichard kept when she worked as a governess on a station in the far west of New South Wales. Inspired by the new landscapes through which she travelled, these sketches show the way Prichard developed fiction from life events.
