An historical novel about the doomed lover affair between Sophia Dorothea of Celle (wife of George I of England) and Philip Christoph von Königsmarck; the affair saw Königsmarck killed and Sophia repudiated by her husband and imprisoned in the Castle of Ahlden for the last thirty years of her life.
Set in seventeenth-century Hanover, Saraband for Dead Lovers tells the story of the tragic love affair between Sophie Dorothea, wife of George I of England, and Count Konigsmark, a Swedish soldier.
