AbstractHistoryArchive Description

A novel about an imaginary war in 1920, in which Japan invades Australia. The Australian connection in the work is referred to in the Bulletin Red Page (April 23, 1908): 'The book, too, has a special interest for Australians, for the world-war of 1920, when Japan and Germany, in unholy alliance, fight the British Empire, the United States and France, takes its origin from a riot in Sydney. The Japanese fleet unexpectedly arrives in Sydney, the men ashore get into conflict with the larrikin element, and the Japanese cruisers shell the crowd of rioters ... This Sydney riot is the prelude for a world rising of the Asiatics.'
