  • Dedication: To my clergy.
  • Author's Note: Earlier poems have been published in "Melchior and other Verses," Townsville, 1893; Night and other Verses," [sic] Townsville 1897. These are now out of print. The present verses were mostly written between 1897 and 1909. A few of them have appeared in the "Carpentarian" and elsewhere. It should be stated that the idea of "The World's Tragedy" was suggested by the Bishop of London's "Men who crucify Christ".
