AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The Red Page of the Sydney Bulletin, 21 September 1911, offers this description of the novel : 'The idea is that a Syndicate of men, working in various mines, are stealing gold, with which they salted a "duffer" mine whose shares are run up for the benefit of the members. By accident, the existence of the Sydnicate becomes known to a venal police inspector and a villainous share manipulator. The latter wishes to become a member of the gang, and his bogus initiation makes a good scene. In the meantime the "hero" has visited a station in another State, where Isobel appears and the inevitable happens.'
