AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The legend of Lohengrin, immortalised by Wagner, is the tale of a good Duke and his beautiful daughter Elsa, of the squire Frederick and the jealous Ortrud, the Duke's base-born daughter who is determined to have her rights. Mary Mitchell offers the modern reader a story of romance and mystery told in terms of human passion and faith, subject neither to time nor place.
