This poem was jointly authored by R. A. Smith and Chris Wallace-Crabbe under the pseudonym, Gillian Bianchini after Wallace-Crabbe had suggested that he and Simpson try writing some 'so-called Language Poetry'. According to Simpson, 'When it was sent to Island it was not intended to be a hoax - merely an attempt to see if we could get "a new poet" published.'
