In 1964, Bandicoot on a Burnt Ridge won first prize in the competition for an Australian stage play organised by the Journalists' Club, Sydney, and judged by Leslie Rees. The second prize was awarded to The Professor : A Play in Three Acts under the title Toda-San) by Hal Porter.
