A queer fable.
Bernhard is the tough ex-juggler with rheumatism in his fingers and suspicion in his heart. Jenny is the aboriginal [sic] girl who shares his space and lives somewhere else entirely. When they want a child, the Gods give them Sophia - neither boy nor girl. Maybe not even human. This is the wisdom they seek and the different wisdom they find.
