Most of these poems have been selected from the eight smaller volumes of poetry by Marjorie Pizer published between 1967 and 1982. They are not in chronological order. The last section contains new poems previously unpublished.

To the artists, now dead,
who were the black sheep of my family:
my cousin, Nancy Fryberg, singer,
and my great uncle, Miles Evergood, painter,
who, as I grew up, gave me music, painting, acceptance
and the outlook of an artist.
