Chippy attends the local school and does everything the others do - almost. The difference is that Chippy has been blind from birth. Holidaying at her grandparents' country property, Chippy and her initially disbelieving cousin uncover a bird-smuggling scam. It is this sightless child's heightened awareness of sound, smell, and space that brings the smugglers to justice.
