The author accompanied A. R. [Radcliffe-] Brown on his expeditions in Western Australia, the work of Radcliffe-Brown in collecting information on marriage systems is described, brief accounts of ceremonies and material culture; the work was disrupted by a violent police raid and further research was carried out on the prison hospital Bernier Island in Sharks Bay where Aborigines suffering from VD were forcibly imprisoned.
