AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Tracing the lives of members of a Persian family since the Second World War, this novel draws on the experiences of its author, who was born in Iran and now lives in Sydney. Her aim is to show how westernised families in Persia (now Iran) were affected by the governments of the Shah of Iran and the Ayatollah Khomeini, and how a country on the fringe of western life became a symbol of Islamic fundamentalism.'
