Author's note: Swallowing is a Very Private Thing is a one person play. When I wrote it I saw it in my mind as being performed by one actress and that is still how I see it. Under Rodney Fisher's guidance the play has now been set out with names identifying the aspects of the character for clarity of reading and this is the way that he chose to direct it.
