Notes

  • Dedication: This book is dedicated - firstly, to the memory of my brother, Alf, who was lost in 1945 in the Mediterranean whilst serving as a wireless operator in a Wellington bomber - secondly, to my brother, Eric, who survived the war after serving with distinction for six years, facing extreme danger as a wireless operator in Hudson bombers and Catalina flying boats - thirdly, to my wife, Alison, whose encouragement and support have made publication possible. Fred Robins.
  • "The story is based on the many factual situations he [the Author] experienced during 1944 and 1945, but the characters are fictional and not intended to portray any particular person, living or dead.' (Back cover)
