BiographyHistory

William Moore migrated to Australia around 1851 from Glasgow, where he had been a compositor on the Glasgow Herald. In Melbourne he worked as a night overseer on the Melbourne Herald, and in the printing business owned by William Goodhugh in Flinders Lane. Around 1860 he joined a partnership with fellow printer James Fergusson and bookbinder William Detmold to take over Goodhugh's business, founding Fergusson and Moore.

After Moore died in 1880 his share of the business was taken over by his son, Alex Moore.
