BiographyHistory

Anne O'Donovan Publishing targets its books to the 'quality end' of the mass market, and is best known for its restaurant guides, cookbooks and books on women's health, all of which are distributed by Penguin Books Australia. The first title published under the Anne O'Donovan imprint was The Billings Method, which became an immediate bestseller. Twenty years on, this title has been published in almost every world language. Another high-profile title is The Age Good Food Guide (1980), which is reprinted every year. Anne O'Donovan summed up her publishing ethos in an interview with John Curtain in 1997 when she remarked: 'the small companies seem to survive best if they can identify niches, and that's what I try to do'.
