John Sanski was educated at a Christian Brothers College and at the Queensland Institute of Technology. He graduated in 1980 in applied science and maths. Of himself he says 'Born in Ipswich and have lived here all my life apart from a couple of years spent living in Sydney, some time of which was spent living in squats around the inner city' (Dustcover, The Rust.)
